If you've driven by the McKinney Airport (AKA, Collin
County Regional Airport) you've noticed the beehive of activity.
Here's what's going on, straight from their website ...
"Construction of the replacement runway began in
June 2010. Work includes constructing a new 7,002’ x 150’ runway,
relocating the Instrument Landing System (ILS) and FM 546. The landing
surface will be capable of supporting B767 aircraft and the existing
runway will become a parallel taxiway. FM 546 will be relocated so that
the replacement runway can be extended up to 8,400’ if necessary for
future growth.
More than 1,000,000 cubic yards of dirt work are involved in this
project. Nearly 200,000 yards of material has been hauled on-site that
was excavated from nearby construction sites and dredged from several
lakes within the City of McKinney as part of their healthy lakes and
creeks initiative."

In case you're wondering what a B-767 looks like,
here's one below.
