You will probably never see the McKinney Town Square this quiet. The streets were closed on Friday afternoon as the event planners began setting up the tents and stands for this year's annual jazz festival. They estimate about 15,000 or so visitors will attend. If you have nothing to do this weekend, you should think about coming out. It's a little slice of Americana. And if you like jazz, you will really enjoy walking around the historical town square and listening to the great music. Best of all ... it's free!
Saturday
Unfortunately, you cannot hear the great jazz being played, but it reverberated around the square. I saw three different stages where jazz musicians were playing.
The shady spots were in high demand on Saturday.
The old courthouse served as a backdrop to one of the three musician stages.
Where else can you dine in the middle of a usually busy street?
Most people shy away from the camera, but not these two :-)
As always in these McKinney events, the bicycle police were out in force.
The wine tasting tent was by far the most popular place to be! It was packed.
Gotta have corn dogs and funnel cakes!
The brick streets are one of the things that make the town square feel like a slice of history.
