I kept hearing about Rick's Chophouse and Grand Hotel on the old McKinney Square so I decided to see what it was all about. I was ready for something nice, but I was really taken back by the total transformation of the building. I think you will be too when you see the pictures below.
This is the original building on the square as it appeared in 1863 (that is civil war period folks). That building burned down and was replaced by the building below.
This picture was taken in the 1920's. Rick's now occupies the FW Woolworth and Company space you see in the foreground.
And this was what the space looked like before Rick's did their renovation.
Now take a look at what they have done with this wonderful old building!

Rhonda and I have not had a chance to try the restaurant, but I have heard great things about it from those who have. I was told you can plan on about $100 per couple including wine. Weekend reservations are recommended by Wednesdays. They are also open for lunch.
Rich woods and moldings are found throughout the restaurant and luxurious bar.

The cozy bar is filled with comfortable, leather sofas and lounge chairs.

The Grand Hotel is connected to Rick's Chophouse, however it has it's own separate entrance off of Louisiana Street.
The wide staircase and polished floors greet visitors to the hotel.
The hotel reservation desk with its polished marble floor and granite countertop is accentuated by the old brick wall. Room rates vary from $139 to $249
This picture is of the second floor stair landing. The hotel rooms are down a hallway behind the camera and the ballroom is through the French doors to the left.
The hotel ballroom with its beautiful chandeliers and tin ceiling is available for rental.
The large suite is under construction. The hotel is scheduled for completion in mid-June. There are a total of 14 hotel rooms including this suite.

Brad Pyle, the general manager, was kind enough to show me around. He told me this is his favorite hotel room with the stone and brick wall and of course, the tin ceiling.
