A typical day in my life…

Given I'm very much a night owl, getting out of bed is my first accomplishment every day. Once I'm coherent, I enjoy getting my three boys ready for school and out the door while getting my coffee. Next, it's off to work and I love being able to work both from home and the office! It's the best combination, in my opinion, for getting things done and occasionally getting to work side by side with my favorite furry people- my chihuahua Winnie, and Stella, my beloved mutt. I try and make a point of getting 10k steps in a day, so no matter how much I may not want to, I force myself to go out and walk as soon as I get home (and I'm always so glad when I do it!). I typically wrap up my day getting to love on and catch up with my husband and boys, feeling like an idiot when I can't always help with Middle School math, and making a point to ALWAYS sit down for family dinner. If I'm lucky, there's enough time to get in one of the following before bed: Dateline, Law & Order SVU, Judge Judy, or The Real Housewives of (fill in city here).

I was born…

Richardson, TX

My favorite thing about Texas…

The architecture, the people, the weather, and the insane amount of cool restaurants and shopping venues.

I’m listening to…

While I enjoy pretty much every kind of music except for heavy metal, I'm typically either listening to modern country or contemporary Christian songs.

If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be…

My grandparents on both sides, and my great-grandparents, on both sides, all of whom have passed away. The older I get, the more I realize what extraordinary people they were, and I'd love the opportunity to ask them questions, listen, and learn.

When I was younger, I wanted to be…

A news anchor or actress. I was fortunate to work in television news for 20 years, but I was ready to do something new!

I’m inspired by…

I'm inspired by other people's stories of hope and perseverance. There's something about becoming invested in someone's personal struggle and later seeing them overcome that struggle. It serves as a good reminder that no matter what we may be going through, there is always hope, and no matter who we are, we can make a difference.

The one person who motivates me is…

My husband. He's my encourager and biggest cheerleader.

If I could change anything in the world, it would be…

I have always had righteous indignation, even when I was a child. So if there's anything in the world I could change, I would like for the world to be FAIR.

The perfect day would be…

Sleep in, go to the spa, get every single treatment available, then go for Sushi with the family.

My first job was…

Working as a hostess and bus person for Chili's.

My worst job was ...

Working as a bus person for Chili's. We had to break down boxes by the dumpster every night and I'll never forget the smell. The hostess part of the job wasn't so bad.

My favorite escape…

A lake house with a tritoon boat and incredible sunsets.

The one thing I wish I could really do well is ...

Sing!

The one thing I really wish I had is ...

A personal chef who would not only cook for my family, but go to the grocery store to do all the shopping!

My life…

My life has been full of ups and downs, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. It's shaped me into the person I am today. I am blessed.

I’m currently working on…

I'm currently working on landscaping my front and back yards. I love creating a space that's beautiful to look at, yet cozy, comfortable, and enjoyable year round.

Always…

Always be kind, set a good example, and take your work seriously.

Never…

Never take yourself too seriously.

Favorite Quote…

"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." (2 Corinthians 4:18)

Biggest Dream…

I've always thought it would be amazing to win a huge Powerball, and be able to give a lot of the money to the people and organizations that need it the most. A close second would be to travel the world.

My Pet Peeve(s) ...

Noisy chewing, humble bragging, Debbie Downers, and cars with obnoxiously loud engines.

Most people don't know this about me ...

Most people don't know the former University of North Texas Stadium was named after my great-grandfather, former UNT Football Coach and Athletic Director, Theron Judson Fouts. His wife, my great-grandmother, Leslie Vann Sams, was the first Homecoming Queen at Baylor University in 1916, when Homecoming was known as "Good Will Week".

More About Me ...

I'm a natural-born storyteller. Most would call me an extroverted introvert. I'm a secret amateur make-up artist, hair stylist, and interior designer. I'm obsessed with TJ Maxx and HomeGoods. If I could, I would adopt almost every animal I see. And I make a mean guacamole.
