We're extremely pleased to announce Jessica Devenny has joined The Grisak Group. She's a highly experienced agent and has already had two nice sales in Prosper since she joined us. Until just recently, Jessica had been coaching agents in their businesses but decided she really missed production. Jessica is a long time Prosper resident and since we've been searching for a great agent to work that side of town, she's a perfect fit. She'll be specializing in both home sales and representing buyers in the Prosper and Celina.

With three active kids, Jessica is very committed to their sports activities and also a big proponent of the Prosper Independent School District. Prior to her real estate career Jessica worked in Human Resources and Culinary Arts. She still enjoys cooking and hosting get togethers in her home. Now that Jessica has decided to start selling real estate again, she's going to be another rock star, there's no question about that!

A typical day in my life…

Wake up, COFFEE (please don't speak to me before this), get kids ready and then off to school. I love going into the office because I am a social being, but sometimes I work from home, too. After work and when the kids are home from school, I look forward to making dinner and spending time with them. They are 17, 14 and 12, so very fun and hilarious ages! After they go to bed I love catching up on one of my shows to unwind, and then reading before bed.

I was born…

Enid, Oklahoma

My favorite thing about Texas…

There is something for everybody. No matter who you are, or what you are into, there is a niche for you here.

I’m listening to…

Everything really, but especially Yacht Rock and R&B. I love old school R&B but I love current stuff too, even rap music! Around the time I turned 40, I vividly remember my mom asking me after riding in the car with me blasting my music one day, "Jessica? When are you going to outgrow this rap stuff?" My Answer? "Never!"

If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be…

My grandmother. While I loved and adored both of my grandmothers equally, I had a very close relationship with my maternal grandmother. I was the oldest grandchild and she was single, therefore we got to spend a lot of time together, just the two of us. At every stage of my life she was there for advice (usually in the form of hilarious metaphors), guidance and mostly just friendship. I miss her terribly and would give just about anything to be able to see her again.

My favorite food is ...

Salads! I love a good salad and often hear grunts and groans from friends while dining: "Of course Jessica with the salad!". Toss a bunch of stuff in a bowl and coat it with delicious tangy dressing? What's not to love!?

When I was younger, I wanted to be…

An actress. However, believe it or not, I was very shy as a child and would have never had the guts to perform in front of others!

I’m inspired by…

People who have overcome difficult or even tragic circumstances and still have a cheerful way of navigating through life. Picking yourself up, dusting yourself off and moving forward after a knock down is one of life's biggest hurdles. It's difficult to do, and even more difficult to cheerfully do. It's very inspirational to me.

The one person who motivates me is…

My kids. Everything I do, I do for them. And my significant other who always pushes me to be better and is a very good listener. He always offers such well thought out advice with my well being at the forefront. Ok, thats two, sorry!

If I could change anything in the world, it would be…

Eradicating disease. Disease can strip you of everything that you love. From your body, to your dignity and everything in between. We all get the human experience for a limited time and if it were up to me, this limited time would never be polluted with disease and all the things that come with that nasty word.

The perfect day would be…

Sleeping in, throwing on a bathing suit and flip flops, grabbing my book and reading all day with the sound of the waves lapping in the background. Throw my family, and maybe a cocktail in there, and that's pure bliss.

My first job was…

Hostess at Fudpuckers in Destin. That is, if you dont count endless years of babysitting.

My worst job was ...

At a shoe store. I think I worked there for 2 days. Spending all day putting back boxes of shoes that lazy customers have left laying around? No thanks.

My favorite escape…

Cooking! There's not much I love more or that relaxes me more than turning on some fun music and being in my kitchen all day. It truly is an escape for me in that it takes me away from my "normal" responsibilities and allows me to channel my artistic side. It also gives me a feeling of accomplishment. I just love it.

The one thing I wish I could really do well is...

Sing. For as much as I love music, being able to sing would be a dream come true.

The one thing I really wish I had is ...

Family close by. I think people take for granted being able to see their family at the drop of a hat if they want to. Luckily, I have a few friends that I consider family; they are far closer to me than a friend. They are my sisters. However, being able to go to lunch with my mom without an airplane ride would be a dream.

My life…

Is awesome. I love my life and all of the people in it. I have learned so many things so far and have been able to soak up some really great experiences, and learn so much from a few not-so-great ones. Even the mundane daily activities I appreciate. It's the small mundane things that make up most of your life, in fact. I do not take any of these for granted and I am grateful for them all. Yes, even chores and bill paying. It's only when the ability to do these mundane tasks has been stripped from you that you see it is all a gift.

I’m currently working on…

Learning as much as I can from my awesome new team! Very excited for this new journey and "coming home" to my new (yet old) office!

Always…

Love with action. Actions speak louder than words and showing people how much you love them is more important than those three litte words. Taking the time to cook someone's favorite meal, doing their laundry, running errands for someone to take it off of their plate; these are all small but great acts of love. I try to instill in my kids loving with action by setting the example of loving them with action. It's so important.

Never…

Hold grudges. I used to be the biggest grudge holder and it eats away at you. I read somewhere once, "Finding peace is an uphill battle. Forgiveness is just what you take to stay hydrated along the way." This has really stuck with me and changed me. Life is too short for inner turmoil. Forgive, forget, and move along with your day.

Favorite Quote…

"I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soul." This is from the poem Inviticus and it really speaks to me. Nothing is handed to you, you must earn things. Moving through life wishing for good things to happen to you will get you nowhere. You must work hard and earn a good life for yourself and your family. For you are the master of your fate and the captain of your soul.

Biggest Dream…

To write a book. I have no idea what I would write about and would have no audience to read it, but hey, a girl can dream! Ha!

My Pet Peeve(s)…

Complaining. There is always, ALWAYS someone with more challenging circumstances than you, who is not only doing better than you, but doing it with a smile. I simply despise complainers; they are a black cloud on a sunny day.

Most people don't know this about me…

I am super silly! I LOVE to laugh and joke and just I adore funny people. Ok, maybe everyone knows this about me. Haha!

More about Me…

I have lived many places from Florida, to Oregon, to Switzerland and several places in between! I love travel and immersing myself in different cultures. There is so much to learn from people all around the globe; why spend all time and resources here in the land we know? Get out there and see the world, soak up everything you can from the time we have here. I am rather thrilled to have 2020 behind me and be able to travel with my family.
