A typical day in my life…

I get up early, make coffee, water outside potted plants, give the dogs a treat, go to my office and check e-mails and Facebook while I wake up. This is my quiet time that I treasure. No one can talk to me during this time, at least if they want to live. 😊 Then I jump into my real estate work. Some desk work, some running errands. Then lunch with hubs and back to work. Late in the day I hop on my exercise bike for an hour, then I have dinner with my son and husband, catching up on our days. Afterwards it is play time with the dogs before the sun goes down and it is cooler (in the summer). Often, Tom and I will relax in the pool or the hot tub and settle down for the evening watching a good movie or series. This is my favorite time of the day.

I was born…

San Diego, California.

My favorite thing about Texas…

Friendly, giving people! Most will give you the shirt off their back if needed.

I’m listening to…

The Highway (country) or Fox News.

If I could have dinner with anyone, it would be…

The two most important women in my life - My Aunt Bonnie and my Mother in Law Pat – both are in Heaven and I miss them more than words can express. They taught me the meaning of unconditional love and grace.

My favorite food is...

Is wine a food? 😉 I love all food – Mexican, Asian, Indian and Seafood are some of my favorites. Capital Grille would be my favorite restaurant for a really nice meal!

When I was younger, I wanted to be…

A nurse.

I’m inspired by…

Positive, kind people. People who can find the good in every situation and handle life’s ups and downs with kindness and a positive spirit.

The one person who motivates me is…

My husband and son

If I could change anything in the world, it would be…

There are so many things - child abuse, animal abuse, world hunger, homelessness, etc.. etc... but right now I would have to say to put an end to Covid.

The perfect day would be…

A dream day would be relaxing on a sunny beach with a yummy cocktail, a good book and lots of naps. For me there is nothing more relaxing than smelling the ocean air with my feet in the sand while listening to the waves crashing and the sound of children playing. I would end the day with a lovely dinner watching the sun set over the ocean.

My first job was…

Working at a frozen yogurt shop when I was 16. I ungraded to working at McDonalds soon after. 😊

My worst job was ...

I was in my 20’s and needed some extra money to pay my rent, so I took a weekend job stuffing the Dallas Morning News newspaper. It was a sweat shop assembly line. Big warehouse, no heat or air. It was miserable.

My favorite escape…

There are so many. Colorado in the summer is a favorite. Tom and I also enjoy quick trips to Santa Fe, Sedona and Palm Springs in the winter. However, visiting my hometown of San Diego and the beach is a must for my heart. Staying in La Jolla is special. I love the vibe there and especially the resident seals. 😊

The one thing I wish I could really do well is...

Play golf. My husband would love if I could play golf. I would love to be more of a gourmet type cook, and I would love to be more organized!

The one thing I really wish I had is...

More time with our loved ones who have passed away.

My life…

Is a blessing I do not take for granted.

I’m currently working on…

Taking better care of me. I’m learning a Keto lifestyle, drinking a lot more water, eating heathier foods, and exercising most every day. Tom told me recently that I have always taken care of others, now it was time to take care of me. Best “gift” he ever gave me.

Always…

Be kind.

Never…

Say never.

Favorite Quote…

"Don't let your worries about tomorrow, take away your joy today."

Biggest Dream…

To retire comfortably and see my son accomplish his dreams. I hope I live long enough to be a grandmother too!

My Pet Peeve(s)…

People who think they are better than others.

Most people don't know this about me…

By the age of 6 years old, I had already had 4 mothers. Crazy!

More about Me…

When I finished High School I became a bank teller at Bank of America, just like my step mother had done. I decided I wanted something more from my life, so I sold anything I could at swap meets on the weeknds until I had enough money to dirve to Dallas with a friend. My friend went back to SD, but I stayed in Dallas, I had no job and no where to live. Luckily things fell in place pretty quickly and I soon had a roomate and a job leasing apartments for Lincoln Properties. Before long I was hired into the Oil and Gas business where I remained for almost 20 years. Once Tom and I married and had our son, Tom and I discovered Lucas,Texas. We loved it. Tom eventually started his residential business and I joined him. The rest is history. We love the Lovejoy Community. It has been our home for 22 years. On the side, rescue dogs are my passion. I love to help families find their furry family member. Tom and I have always had rescue dogs. At one point we had 6, along with horses, pigs and cats! Now we have 4 rescue dogs and 2 sugar gliders. We love all animals.
