Every so often I like to Google things like safest Texas city, least air pollution, least crime, best schools, etc. Today, I somehow ran across the list seen below and it floored me. Two towns in which we specialize both made the top ten!
Twelve years ago I was marketing a Lucas home on 2 acres for $1 million. No home had ever sold for $1 million here so we ran into trouble with the appraiser. He refused to get comparables from Fairview, our sister city right next door, so we were stuck. The seller refused to drop the price to what the appraiser pegged it at.
We had no choice but to find another lender and hope a new appraiser would see the value. Fortunately, the home appraised and closed.
These days a million dollar Lucas home sale just isn’t a big deal and we have many comparables to draw from. I realize these lists can be very subjective and depend on the data being used, but to see little Lucas, Texas mentioned in the top ten of wealthiest cities in the state really surprised me.
Heath also finished in the top 10! Courtney Peugh, one of our terrific buyer and seller agents, both lives in and specializes in Heath.
